    PAUL!
The Hashtag looking stmbol is explained in my other comment. It is to show her frustration with Milton for not listening to her. It usually means the angry vein on a man’s forehead.

MissHilary: Thank you for the clarification. I thought that’s what it meant, but I don’t read manga and was just guessing. :)

That is just the kind of remark my son would say! Smart aleck!

Paul, that represents an emotion, first featured in Japanese comic books (manga) and cartoons (anime), use to show annoyance or frustration. She is irritated with the cat’s smart aleck attitude/remark. Usually, it is suppose to represent a vein in the forehead of an angry man.
Just like a drop of water on the side of the forehead represent sweat from nervousness.

What is the “hashtag” looking thing in her hair in panel 2? Is it supposed to be a hairclip? Oh, and Milton is correct….on the paper, not the counter. :)
