Thank you for this. My mother and I love to read and to collect random knowledge, like this. Sometime, in yhe 80s, she read somewhere that a tabby meant mixed breeds (mutt). That any cat who wasn’t a pure breed would be a tabby. The sign of a tabby, she read, was the “M” (three stripes) on the forehead. That it was like a mark of the tabby.
