When I was in my teens (mid ’90s), my cat had a litter. We kept one of the kittens. She was a tortoise-shell calico mix. Her face was divided in four parts. The left eye and right chin was red. The right eye and left chin was black. The dividing lines were almost perfectly symmetrical on her face, with the point being at her nose. She had a checkerboard face, so I named her Checkerboard.
