You're Not Crazy. Your Cat IS Talking To You. September 14 2016, 18 Comments
Well.. you might be, but it's ok because your cat doesn't think so.
If you have ever lived with more than one cat, you might have noticed they don't really meow at each other. Rather than meowing at each other, they communicate with body language.
Cats will eventually learn your habits and find you don't catch on to their little body language. They also hear the way you chat with others, so they learned to get your attention they need to be more vocal. Now some are more vocal than others but when they are meowing they are indeed meowing to you.
So don't be rude! Meow back!
Unfortunately, if your cat is meowing or talking to you they need/want something. They are not checking in to see how your day went. But it is still pretty cool that they are trying to communicate with you.
An experiment by J Comp Psychol examined humans and cats to see how they were communicating with each other and found that people were better at interpreting the meows from cats they lived with versus cats they didn't know.
So you and your cat basically have your own language!

I have been talking to my kitties for years and my husband just noticed.
He thought I was talking to myself. Go figure ! I could go on about our conversations (yes they do answer and one in particular talks as he leads me to his destination.) They are such fun,and I’m never alone. I love them sooo much!

My Kitty Girl and Little Bit always talked to me and I would say it was time to take a bath or go to bed and both of them followed me right into which ever room we were going to.
They both passed away and it just about killed me. When Kitty Girl went into renal failure and I put her down so she wouldn’t suffer I stayed in the bed for 2 weeks crying over her and thought I would never be able to speak her name again without falling apart but then God knew I needed another baby to rescue and then Casper showed up at my back door and I fell in love.
It took me 4 hours to catch him and get him in the house but when I did he got a nice warm bath, cuddled in a towel and fresh food and water and his own big warm (I heat his blankie in the dryer) bed plus he got special kitty treats and he loves them in his Temptations Mouse that screws apart and he rolls it around while the treats fall out for him to eat.
He also loves his bath with Johnson’s baby bath. He just got out about an hour ago and wow does he smell soooo good.

I not only talk with my 4 cats, I sing to them. They seem to enjoy hearing their names in song.

In my part of the world, my friends call me kitt. I was able to rescue my Talley Car financially but am reaping the rewards along with the bills. She is five months old today and is still a little behind. She has recently discovered she can meow and startles her as much as myself. She doesnt meow often, but when she does it is an event.I love Meowingtons and all the catworthy mews.

Nothing wrong with a talk with your fur balls. I carry on or talk to ours all the time. They are smarter then most humans are.

I have conversations with my three all the time. And each one has their own way of talking back. Love my fur babies so much.

I have three fur babies and I can always tell which one is meowing and what they need my attention for. They also love when I sing to them in Japanese? It’s strange but kind of cute that they share my love for Japanese music.
