An Unfair Advantage

Milton protests during Scrabble, ‘I don’t see how this is fair. I only know one word.’ His tiles spell MEOW, and another player suggests, ‘Try HISS!’

Game night has hit a small snag: Milton would like to file a formal complaint about the vocabulary requirements.

“I don’t see how this is fair,” he announces in today’s Milton the Cat comic. “I only know one word.”

Four letters. Endless possibilities?

One look at his tile rack reveals the problem. M-E-O-W is ready to go, but Milton’s not exactly working with a sprawling dictionary. When your favorite word covers dinner requests, closed-door complaints, and general announcements, why learn another?

Unfortunately, that strategy doesn’t leave much room for variety on a Scrabble board.

A little help from across the table

Then comes a helpful suggestion: “Try HISS!”

And just like that, Milton’s vocabulary has doubled. Whether his mood has improved is another question entirely.

We admire his commitment to keeping things simple. Some players study word lists. Milton has one reliable classic and a backup for when the game gets personal.

If your cat joined game night, would they play along, complain about the rules, or send every tile flying off the table?
