Inseparable Cat and Dog Duo Explore the World Together

Introducing the newest and cutest Lewis and Clark-type team, Henry and Baloo are an inseparable dog and cat duo who explore the Great Outdoors side-by-side. Henry the dog blazes trails while his little buddy, Baloo, hitches a ride on his back. When the adventures get to be a bit much for Baloo's little paws, he'll take up temporary residence on Henry's head for a quick cat nap. 

Together, Henry and Baloo traipse through the wilds alongside their adopter and new mom, Cynthia Bennett. Traversing the hiking trails of Colorado, these two furry explorers are both rescues adopted from local animal shelters. Just three days after Bennet took Henry home, she took him on his first hike. He took to it like a fish to water. “He found the steepest, tallest rock around, and he ran up to the top of it to look over the edge,” Bennet told The Dodo. “We call him our little mountain goat,” she added.

About five months and a long search later, Bennett and Henry welcomed Baloo, a Siamese mix, into their little family. It was love at first sight for the kitten - and for Henry, too. "Henry has become the best big brother," writes Bennett. "[He] always checks on [Baloo] to make sure he is doing okay." 

“I call them brothers, but I think Baloo thinks that Henry’s his mom because he constantly looks for a teat,” Bennett said. “So he’ll go in, and you can tell he’s looking, because he’s nuzzling under Henry’s armpit.”  

It wasn’t long until Baloo began accompanying the family on their trips. Anytime Bennet would leave to take Henry on his walks, Baloo would cry. "He really loves it. He really wants to go outside,” Bennett said. “If I touch Henry’s leash, [Baloo] will start screaming at the door.” So Bennett began training Baloo to walk on a leash and harness - and the rest is history.
